Indiana is a great place to live and raise a family. It is close to everything. Business can thrive within its tax- and regulation-friendly boundaries. So why is our income, relative to the nation, continuing to stagnate and decline? Isn’t manufacturing, especially in the auto sector, booming? Aren’t we bringing thousands of new jobs to the state? So why is our income lower? This is a question posed frequently from the State House to my own house. To answer this, economist Tim Slaper has researched, analyzed and documented his answers for this issue of the IBR. Take your time to digest the analysis, his conclusions and importantly, his recommendations as to “what we can do about it.” It is worthy of multiple readings and at least dozens of tweets (follow us: @IUibrc).
