Industry Cluster, Workforce, and Demographic Indicators - All States, All Counties!
These data were selected to support development of industry cluster strategies for rural areas throughout the United States, following the model discussed in the Reports section of this site. But of course, any region or county or organization in the nation can utilize these data, particularly since we update the data as soon we receive source files from the responsible federal agencies.
New to the site is the ability to CUSTOMIZE YOUR OWN REGION. You can easily aggregate counties (across state lines even!) to form your own region. For more data on all counties and states in the U.S., please visit our popular USA Counties in Profile.
CAUTION: Federal requirements limit disclosure of data that would violate the confidentiality of an individual firm. This “data suppression” is most likely to occur in small-population areas where there are only a few firms in a locale (whether individual counties or multi-county regions). In analyzing cluster or industry data, users should be aware of these inherent limitations in the data; and recognize that cluster totals and trends may be misleading in some such cases. These Federal data suppression limitations may sometimes be overcome through supplemental data made available from state or local sources for a particular region. The guidance of professional researchers may be helpful in such cases.
Note: Dollar values shown are in the current dollars of the year referenced and are not adjusted for inflation.
