Uses of Property Tax Data for Policymakers, State Agencies, and Taxpayers
You could be one of thousands of taxpayers missing out on tax relief and not even realize it! In the latest issue brief released by Information for Indiana, you'll find insightful discussions of the effects of new regulations on property taxes and how property tax data can be accessed by taxpayers and others.
Legislators have begun asking questions about the effects of changes in property tax policies. And they are asking for forecasts of future property tax collections and for analyses of new property tax proposals. It is clear that the Legislative Services Agency will need county parcel-level data annually from now on to address such questions and others:
- What were the results of the 2002-2003 reassessment?
- Which taxpayers in which counties paid more, and which paid less?
- What were the effects of tax restructuring on property owners’ tax bills?
